How much does each use take?
| Use | Daily estimate | Suggested plan |
|---|---|---|
| Maps, chat and e-mail | 0.3 – 0.5 GB | Pinglo Flex with the right amount |
| Social media and photos | 0.7 – 1 GB | Pinglo Go (2 GB a day) |
| Stories and short videos | 2 – 3 GB | Pinglo Plus (3 GB a day) |
| Video streaming and sharing with family | 5 GB or more | Pinglo Max (5 or 10 GB a day) |
These figures are approximate and depend on video quality and the apps you use. On daily plans the internet keeps going after the daily allowance, at a lower speed, until it renews the next day, so you're never cut off.
Example trips
- A 5-day business trip in Tokyo: maps, e-mail and a few voice meetings come to about 3 GB, so a 3 GB Flex plan fits.
- A 7-day tourist trip between Tokyo and Kyoto: maps, social media and photos every day, about 1 GB a day, so 7 days of Go is comfortable.
- A 10-day family trip: stories, video and sharing with another device, more than 3 GB a day, so Max at 5 GB a day suits better.
- Two weeks with daily video calls home: video calls use a lot, so choose Plus or Max depending on how long the calls are.
How daily plans work
On the Go, Plus and Max plans you get an amount at top speed every day (2, 3, 5 or 10 GB depending on the plan). Once it's used up the internet doesn't stop: it carries on at a lower speed until the allowance renews the next day. The lower speed is enough for chat and maps, and depends on the plan: 256 Kbps on Go, 1 Mbps on Plus and 384 Kbps on Max.
When a fixed amount is cheaper
If your use is light and steady, a Flex plan with a fixed amount can cost less than a daily plan, and it runs at full speed with no slowdown until the data is used up. Because validity starts from the first connection, you don't lose a day if you travel a few days after buying.
Tips to save data
- Download offline maps of the cities before you fly.
- Turn off automatic app updates and photo backups over mobile data.
- Lower the video quality in streaming apps when you're away from Wi-Fi.
- If you run out of data, top up the same eSIM from your order page with 7% off.

Can I top up the eSIM if I need more?
Yes, from your order page, with 7% off and no new QR code.

For maps, chat and light social media, usually yes. With video and stories, a 2 or 3 GB a day plan is better.
